The first issue is titled "From Krypton to Earth". If anything, it's yet another retelling of Superman's origins. Previous retellings include the first movie, the Superman: Man of of Steel comics miniseries back in 1986, and the Superman: Birthright comics miniseries. There's nothing new in this retelling: still the same Krypton the planet going to be destroyed, Jor-El the father wants to save both his son and preserve Krypton's accumulated knowledge, believes his son Kal-El will be well-served by being sent to Earth, etc.

Rant: there is such a big loophole (flaw?) in the story. The Kryptonian civilization is portrayed as being way ahead of Earth's civilization in terms of scientific discovery. *But* when Jor-El is appealing to the council (government?) that Krypton is threatened by the expansion of Krypton's now red giant son, they do not believe him??? What a bunch of dopes!

Well, we all also know our Sol will go Red Giant some time in the future... but we just won't believe it if someone tell us that it's going to happen in the next 15 years...  Smiley

They casted Superman VERY well though. I freaked when I first watched the trailer and thought Christopher Reeve was still alive.

Yup, same here. I thought they somehow used some past footage of Christopher Reeves and digitally added him to this new movie...
